Mockingjay 7

Leyla's POV
"Wayne Enterprises it officially closed till further notice."I sighed when I took a seat next to John in his car that evening. We had been helping everywhere we could and tried in the meantime to gather information about Bruce or Bane or both.
"You okay?"John asked me on which I shrugged my shoulders. "Somehow it seems as if everything about Bruce is disappearing with him."I answered. "As if... As if he isn't coming back.". "Don't forget, we're speaking about Bruce Wayne here."John helped me remember. "He will come back. Even if it's just to annoy you by saying 'India or China or so.' whenever you're speaking about the fact that he sended you to Tokyo.". His comment made a smile appear on my face.
"Sounds like Bruce to do something like that."I admitted. That was the moment that the car pulled to a stop on the driveway of the Wayne mansion. I froze in my seat as memories filled my head. Memories of years ago when I was just a little girl but also memories of just a few days ago.
"Something wrong?"John asked a bit concerned when he saw that I hesitated to get out of the car. "It just feels... Wierd."I told him. "The whole time I was in Tokyo I wished to be here at the mansion. But now I realize that it wasn't the mansion I missed but the people linked to it. I wished I could be with Alfred and Bruce. Now that neither of them are here, I don't want to be here either. The thought of being here alone even scares me a bit.".
"I can understand that."John mused as he looked at the huge building. "You know, I have an extra room at my place. If you want you can stay with me for a while.". "You sure?"I asked him confused. "Otherwise I wouldn't suggest it."he pointed out. "Besides, with Bane on the lose it's maybe not such a bad idea to stick together. It's safer.". "Well in that case, just let me grab my stuff."I told him.

John's POV
"You sure you don't need help?"Leyla asked for the tenth time in the equal amount of minutes. We had cooked together but I insisted on doing the dishes by myself. "Positive."I answered. Leyla decided to give up the fight and made her way towards the livingroom which was connected to the small kitchen. I watched how she took a stand in front of one of the windows and gazed outside.
"It's getting colder."she said suddenly. "It won't take long until winter starts which means snow. And that brings along that it gets even harder to move around without Bane noticing us and the others of the resistance.". "It will be difficult yes."I admitted. "But not impossible."she added with a smile on which she turned away from the window and started walking back to me. She stopped however close to the dark wooden cabinet which stood against the wall. There a picture caught her eye.
"You look like your father."she spoke while she picked the frame up. "But you have your mother's eyes.". "It's the most recent picture I had from them."I told her, on which I decided to abandone the dishes. "I was five on that picture.". Leyla carfully placed the picture back on its place and turned to face me. She leaned with her back against the cabinet. Just now I noticed her eyes were clouded again.
"I have a picture just like that."she said. "I was five too. Even better... The picture got taken the same evening my parents died.". Her voice was slightly trembling, but I decided to not speak any comforting words. She wanted to tell the story. I had to give her the chance to do so. "The accident wasn't their fault."Leyla continued. "A truckdriver who was riding in the opposite direction fell asleep behind the wheel. The truck drove to the other side of the road and hitted my parents' car in the process. They were dead on impact.".
"Did the peramedics told you that?"I wanted to know. She shook her head. "They didn't need to.". Slowly she raised her shirt to reveal her stomach. There, from her bellybutton till her right hip, was a long scar decorating her skin. "I was with them in the car."she said, in case I hadn't figured it out yet. "We were driving back from a dinner when it happend.".
I took a step closer to her, making that the space between us was only a few more centimeters. Slowly I placed my hand on the exposed skin of her stomach and traced the scar with my fingers. "In case you were wondering..."she almost whispered. "I was asleep when it happend. Because...". "Car rides make you sleepy."I completed, also in a whisper. For the first time during the whole conversation her eyes met mine. In those bright blue orbs of hers, I reconised myself. The brave look in them but in the core feeling lost.
Suddenly I felt how she layed her hand on mine, from which I now just realised was still resting on her scar. Her eyes kept glued to mine as she intertwined our fingers. That's when it hit me. Only we could understand what the other had gone through. Only we could see through the other's mask of bravery.
Without giving it a second thought, I closed the small gap that was left between us and kissed her. I thought she would be suprised by my impulsive action, but when she eagerly kissed me back I realised she had been waiting for me to do this aswell as I had been waiting to do it. When we broke the kiss I smiled at her. "Guess the dishes have to wait."I told her. Leyla mimiced my smile as she threw her arms around my neck. "Even better news."she remarked. "I think we don't need to prepare the guest room either.". "Perfect."I grinned and pulled her again into a kiss.
