14. Archery

“Everybody duck!!!”the shrill voice of Sfea Jackson screamed through the Camp. All Campers looked up confused since the youngest Jackson rarely yelled. She was too serene, too calm.
“Sfea? What’s up?”Nate, the eldest of the Castellan offspring asked but quickly dived to the ground since the answer to his question sped towards the blond at a deadly pace.
“Are you okay?”Sfea wanted to know, her voice coated with concern as she helped Nate back to his feet.
“Yeah, but… What was that?”Nate questioned.
“River is taking a try again at archery.”she explained with a wince which Nate quickly mimicked. Let’s just say River took the most after his dad from the four Jackson kids, which also meant he inherited the great Percy Jackson’s archery skills.
Suddenly another arrow flew through the air, one of pure silver, which pierced River’s arrow right through the middle before finding a safe target in a tree.
All eyes fell on the mysterious shooter who stood proudly on a boulder, her bow still in hand.
“And as usual, big sister saves the day.”Zoë said with a wink on which Sfea rolled her eyes.
“After putting the day in danger first, you mean.”the youngest girl remarked with a smile.
“You had no right to stop my arrow!”yelled a frustrated River at the sight of his older sister who was a pro when it came to archery.
“If I hadn’t stopped it, you would have hit Mr. D in the sore spot. AGAIN.”Zoë spoke as her silver bow and white quiver with silver arrows morphed back into a bracelet with a star on it.
“And he blasted you almost to hell the last time you did so.”Rowen, who just joined the group, added.
“I just don’t get it!”River complained and threw his bow on the ground. “Mom is awesome with bow and arrow, my big sister is the reincarnation of Robin Hood… Why can’t I shoot a freaking arrow without it hitting anything but the target I had in mind?”.
“Dad’s blood.”his three siblings said with a shrug.
“Though… Even dad wasn’t this bad.”Rowen mused.
“Don’t feel bad little bro.”Zoë tried to calm down River. “The only reason why I’m good at archery is because mom and dad named me after a Hunter of Artemis they once knew. Because of that, Lady Artemis blessed me with the gift of archery.”.
“Along with the silent hope of you becoming a Hunter at one point yourself.”Rowen said. “Of course, that was before Killian appeared in the equation.”.
Zoë shoved her younger brother but the smile that played on her lips was one of pure amusement.
“Oh! That reminds me…”Rowen spoke. “Chiron has a new quest for you Zow.”.
“Really?!”the eldest Jackson asked excited. “What is it? Killing a Drakon? Did Aphrodite lose another scarf? Or can I go visit grandpa in the ocean again?”.
“No, no… And no.”the Demeter blood answered with a smile. “You’re next quest will be… Giving River archery lessons.”.
The groans that came from the two Poseidon bloods of the Jackson family caused that the Demeter duo of the same family together with Nate broke down in laughter.
